Did I not say she loves mudpuddles?
She used that old chair (I caught
that thing over a year ago) to prop up her SpongeBob pole so she could make a mess of herself while waiting
for the fish to bite.
I had previously "caught" that board laying on the ground in front of her in the 2nd pic. It was way out and buried in mud...I thought I was going to have to cut my line, then it finally started moving...we were excited to see what it was I was wrestling to reel in. I thought it might be another old chair but Soph closed her eyes just before I pulled the board ashore because she was totally convinced I was pulling in a dead body. lol)

*P.E.T.A. fanatics- please control your crazy selves. There are plenty more fish in the dirty canal...and besides, that big one didn't look like it had much life left in it anyway.*
I told her she was being morbid, but she disagreed and told me she loves playing with dead catfish because "you can make them do anything you want."
I have a video of her making them talk to each other that's comedy gold, I just can't figure out how to post it. O well.
This was the 1st time I ever brought fish home instead of releasing them. Soph had a fit to keep them for awhile, so I put them in the bucket that I use to carry all of our fishing equipment in...I had full intentions of setting them free after she was finished petting them (and feeding them large portions of the bait) but unfortunately they perished while still in the bucket.
Hey, at least they were being loved on when they died. And afterwards....lol.
We finally called it a day once it got so dark that we could no longer see the bobbers floating on the water. I would've stayed longer if I had been by myself, but Soph was getting nervous and jumpy every time the wind blew and the reeds and grasses around us rustled...she was certain it was alligators creeping up on us.
I assured her it was just the wind but she wasn't buying that story.
No way I was going to make her stay there if she was scared, and since there have been a few alligators spotted in Bayou Chico recently I figured she was right and we might as well head home.
She got so jumpy while I was packing up our gear that I walked her up to the top of the hill by the park and let her wait there - fully out of reach of the gators - while I went back down to the water and packed up.
Of course then she was afraid that I would get eaten by alligators, so I had to keep talking really loud to her so she could hear me until I got back up the hill and was with her again :)

On another note, that is the LAST time I bring any fish home that aren't on ice and intended to cook & eat.
The aftermath of this adventure required triple bagging x's 2 ...and the next day I STILL puked while putting the 6 x's bagged fish into yet another bag -this time a heavy duty trash bag- before depositing in the trash can.
I was holding my breath, and the transfer to the heavy duty bag would've been successfully undertaken without any vomit produced except for the fact that when I picked up the bag of fish and attempted to quickly insert it in the larger bag...the wind blew...causing the larger bag to collapse shut.
When I reached down to pull it open again, the "drippage" from the bag 'o fish got on my arm.
I cried out in disgust - forgetting momentarily that I was supposed to be holding my breath.
All hope was lost then.
Not even Obi Won could've saved me.

That apple did not fall far from the tree. She looks exactly like her mother.
Why thank you:) She does, doesn't she?
